 La Digue, Seychelles

SURROUNDINGS

La Digue has the age-old reputation of being "the pearl of Seychelles", and this is still valid today. It offers beaches of fine white sand (Grand Anse, Anse Coco, Anse Marron), waves, lagoons (Anse Patate) and fantastic granite rocks (anse Source d'Argent).

La Digue has been preserved from mass tourist development, and still retains its cultural heritage. It is sparsely populated and you will find little urban development.

La Digue is essentially a human-sized island (4.5km / l3.5km) and the main means of transport is the bicycle. There is also a few taxis and mini-buses. The most typical form of transport remains the well-known ox-cart, and its leisurely speed allows its passenger to make the most of the surrounding scenery.

Access: regular ferry from Praslin or by helicopter.
